Basic pathology, also known as general pathology, is the foundational study of the mechanisms and manifestations of disease.

It focuses on the fundamental concepts and processes that underlie various diseases, regardless of the specific organ or system affected.

Basic pathology provides the knowledge needed to understand how diseases develop, progress, and affect the body at a cellular and molecular level.
